Pediatric Orthopedic Project, Inc.

POP is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving pediatric orthopedic care in the developing world through surgical mission trips, the education of local medical staff, and hospital facility improvements.

335 Patients and Counting!

Since our inception in 2012 a total of 335 patients have benefited from our efforts. All patients have received free surgeries either in the Arturo Grullón Children’s Hospital or at (Hospital Metropolitano de Santiago (HOMS), both located in Santiago Dominican Republic. Most cases (315) have been for the correction of scoliosis, or crooked backs. Of these, a total of 76 scoliosis cases have been corrected through our POP team while an additional 239 scoliosis cases have been corrected by the hands of our Dominican colleagues, utilizing the techniques that we have taught them! In addition, we have surgically corrected 15 patients with other orthopedic conditions and sponsored five children bringing your total to 335 cases. Originally based in St. Louis, MO, POP recently relocated to Carmel, IN.

POP is Unique

POP has a unique five arm model. POP seeks to improve orthopedic care not only by annual surgical missions but also by educating local doctors and nurses so that they can pay it forward to their communities; equipping the archaic hospital with necessary equipment, supplies and renovations; sponsoring children with orthopedic conditions that need non-surgical treatment and collaborating with other organizations to bring children with complex orthopedic conditions to the United States for treatment.
